Looked me straight in the eye, I felt a shiver.
She told me , " I'm just as a river .
You begin with- of arrows a quiver.
It's like saying, the course depends on the liver.
Of which , God Almighty is the giver."
"Along the way, I meet many a stone.
Sometimes, they just remain, forever, all alone.
Floods may come, the river may dry or swell ,
They lie forever, in the past they dwell."
"Then there are those who get on a boat.
Plan ahead, and not over the past they gloat.
Navigate, think. Careful. It's important, you know.
It's said, winner of the race is steady and slow.
What's gone is gone, it's about making the future glow. "
"Then there's debris, that just drops in along the way.
All's as it was , they have no say .
Silent, floating, right there they lay.
I just flow, they come along , night or day .
Until they're blown off or picked, as they may.
Nothing is never-ending, forever to stay. "
"What about the quiver", I asked .
She smiled, "That's not really masked."
"See what you want, take your aim.
Shoot right and it's yours to claim.
Shoot yourself to fame .
Or another you can maim ."
" To the arrows there is a limit.
You may reach or success omit.
While you must think, be wise,
Saying you have so long, is lies."
"As the river along its course flows,
You cannot afford to sit and doze.
It's not just the arrows, time goes.
You'll soon see very successful foes.
For, while you leisurely slept,
They onward crept. "
"Now, it's no use, sit and weep.
The arrows you may still keep.
The river is now way too deep.
Unless you've built a strong foothold.
Unless you've worked, as was told .
You can't reach the bank's gleaming gold."
"The course approaches an end.
What's done, is . You cannot amend.
You are thrown out to sea.
Where, forever you'll just be. "
"Arrows, used, unused, no longer matter.
Dreams- some you did achieve, some did shatter.
This. The sea. It is the final destination.
It is the beginning and end of creation. "
"Who are you ? " ,suddenly I questioned.
"I am Life. " , she casually mentioned.
